Our Pastors

Dr. David A. Oliver was born in New York in 1964 and grew up in suburban Detroit.  He trusted Christ as his Savior while a high school teenager as the result of reading a gospel tract.  Soon after, he surrendered his life to preach and sought to prepare for the ministry.  He holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, as well as a doctorate in Pastoral Theology.  Since 1994, he has served as the senior pastor of Ashley Baptist Church.

He currently serves on the boards of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Fellowship of Michigan, Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI, and Proclaiming the Truth Inc. (Neighborhood Bible Time).  He is also the chaplain for two west Michigan fire departments.  He and his wife Penny have been married since 1987 and have three children and three grandchildren.

Pastor Gib Brown came back to his home church, Ashley Baptist in 2013 and currently serves as the Associate Pastor.  He grew up in Belding, about one mile from where the church is currently located.  He is excited to serve this congregation.  Prior to being at Ashley Baptist Church, he worked at Camp CoBeAc in Houghton Lake for 10 years.

During his time there, he had various responsibilities: managed day camp programs and youth rallies, directed food service, oversaw technology, and preached at various churches and youth events.  He has been married to his wife, Katie, since 2013, and they have two boys.  They enjoy working together with the youth.  PG (Pastor Gib) currently serves on the Youth Committee of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Fellowship of Michigan and volunteers his tech talent for various ministries.
